Travis and his wife Sara are the co-owners of the agency group. Travis serves as the president and oversees all agency operations.

Travis started in the insurance and financial services industry in 1991 with American Express Financial Advisors as a financial consultant. He later moved to Merrill Lynch in the Kansas City office as a financial consultant.

In 1997, Travis became president of Thomas County Insurance Agency in Colby, KS, overseeing all insurance operations.
In 1998, Travis left Merrill Lynch to create Douglas County Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. in Lawrence, KS. In 2005, Jefferson County Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. in Oskaloosa, KS was added to the agency group, and in 2006, the Mader Gilmore Agency in Ottawa, KS was purchased, creating Franklin County Insurance. The agency group was renamed Kansas Insurance in 2011.

The year 2007 brought the addition of the agency group acting as State Director for Continental Western Groups Public Entity Pak and Fire-Pak Program for the state of Kansas. Through this program, the agency became one of the largest insurers of municipalities in the state of Kansas.

Travis and Sara own or manage over 2500 acres of farm ground for themselves and Sara’s Family’s Farm raising wheat, corn, milo, soybeans, and sunflowers.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Travis is the former Chairman of the Board of the Jefferson County Commission. He has served in the past as the Chairman of the Board of the Jefferson County Economic Development Committee and Chairman of the Jefferson County Health Department.

He currently serves as the Chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party, and is a member of the Kansas City Chiefs Red Coaters.

Patrick Gottstein

Patrick Gottstein serves as an insurance consultant out of the Jefferson County office, bringing experience and expertise to his clients. Patrick works with individuals and businesses to provide insurance protection for their important needs. He is active in the community, a twenty year volunteer fireman, Kentucky Township Trustee, and a member of the Perry American Legion.

Norman John

Norman has 30 years experience in personal, commercial, life, health, and disability insurance. He utilizes his experience to obtain the best possible protection combined with the best possible rates. This is a unique advantage for you, having all your insurance with an independent insurance agent. He believes in personalized service and is available to answer questions and return calls on a timely basis. Norman and his wife Doris moved to Lawrence in 1974, and have two daughters and three grandchildren, who also reside in Lawrence. They enjoy living in Lawrence and being near their children and grandchildren. They like to travel and watch KU basketball and football. Krystale Neitzel

Krystale is the office manager for the Oskaloosa office. Krystale grew up on a large farm outside of Lawrence, KS raising crops and beef cattle. Krystale attended Colby Community College. Krystale specializes in working with farmers and business owners. She is also available to help clients with their home and auto needs. Kystale has achieved the Farm Certified designation from Nationwide Agribusiness, the largest insurer of farms in the U.S. Krystale and her Husband Lowell have a son Tuff who keeps them busy.

Tami Ramirez

Tami began her insurance career in 1999 and earned her CISR designation in 2005. She is currently working out of the Douglas County office and specializes in commercial, farm and personal insurance coverage. Tami serves as a member of the Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce. Tami and her husband Shawn have three children and enjoy attending their sporting events and also spending time with family and friends.

Beth Charlton

Beth Charlton is a licensed customer service representative for Douglas County Insurance, which she joined May 2009. Beth is from Kansas City and is currently attending the University of Kansas, where she is getting a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.

Bette Albers

Bette is a life long resident of Colby, Kansas. She has been an agent with TCIA since 1997. She and her husband Marvin live on a farm east of Colby raising corn, wheat, milo, soybeans and beef cattle. Bette has two sons, their wives, a step-daughter and ten grandchildren. She enjoys visiting family, ceramics and church activities.

Dennis Tubbs

Dennis Tubbs is a life long resident of Thomas County and has been with the agency since 2010. His past experience includes growing up on his family farm, raising grain and cattle, managing a retail business for 11 years and outside sales manager for S&T Communications for 8 years. Using his past experience, he understands the risks and needs in writing personal, commercial and farm insurance. Dennis is an active member of Kiwanis and a Colby Ambassador. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Robin, and their three boys, hunting, fishing and attending local sporting events.

Bob Abel

Robert (Bob) Abel, Jr., is a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. Bob began working in the insurance industry in January of 2005. His past experience as a supervisor with Hallmark Cards, as the Director of Jefferson County Public Works and as a farmer help him to understand the unique insurance needs required in today’s world. His commitment to providing clients the personal touch and communication help him to inform individuals of products available to cover their specific needs. Bob specializes in property and casualty insurance for personal, farm, and commercial needs. His current farming operation helps him to better understand the community’s needs regarding crop insurance. All areas of insurance require an agent that is informed and willing to keep abreast of changing products that enable you as a client to make sure that your assets are protected.

Sara Dawson

Sara Dawson joins Kansas Insurance with over 8 years of insurance experience. As an Insurance Consultant she will ensure that you, your family and/or your business are well protected. She has extensive experience in the construction field, including surety bonds. Sara welcomes you to contact her for your personal and/or your business insurance needs.

Prior to joining Kansas Insurance Sara held the Surety Manager position with Charlton Manley/Willis Insurance Agency for 7 years. She was responsible for the Surety programs for the Lawrence, Topeka, Kansas City and Wichita locations in Kansas and the Lincoln, Nebraska location as well.

Sara maintains an active involvement in several local community service organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Lawrence Humane Society. She is the incoming PTO President for the 2012-2013 term at Langston Hughes Elementary School and is a member of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce Envoy Committee. Sara is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Lawrence.

Sara lives in Lawrence with her 8 year old son. She is an avid runner and enjoys spending time at her sons various sporting events.
